To Touch One Heart

To Touch One Heart—Part 1 is my testimony of trauma, trials, and triumphs—from birth until the passing of both my parents. I liken my life to a tapestry: a rich, intricate weave of experiences, emotions, challenges, and growth. Each thread—joyful or sorrowful, positive or painful—shaped who I was becoming. No two lives unfold the same way, just as no two tapestries are identical.

Through this lens, I began to see the beauty and purpose in every moment, even those that once felt meaningless. My story invites readers to reflect on their own lives as tapestries—woven with visible and hidden threads that shape identity and meaning. Life isn’t a straight path but an interconnected design, stitched by every choice, emotion, and encounter.

At times, my journey felt like the tangled underside of a tapestry—frayed, chaotic, and without pattern. But when turned over, I saw the Creator’s masterful design. God, the Master Weaver, uses every thread—good or bad—with intention, crafting a story of redemption and glory. His promises are the unbreakable strands stretching across time, weaving every tribe, tongue, and nation into a masterpiece of divine love.

The road has been long, yet the journey is worth it. This painting is called TRANSPARENCY. It takes a depth to expose your most tender of scars and to have them written on pages that others will judge. The woman in this painting walks into the soul that has transformed pain into a colorful description of THE HEALING. I, Dorine Lovejoy painted this for my bestie because I witnessed the transformation of scars and wounds turn to a beautiful moment of courage and trust.

Theme of the Book

“What once looked like tangled threads of pain became the very colors God used to weave a masterpiece of healing, hope, and love.”

The book carries the theme of transformation through faith, resilience, and divine purpose. It reflects on how life, with all its trials and traumas, is not a random sequence of events but a carefully woven tapestry by the hand of the Master Weaver. Every thread—whether painful or joyous—has a place in shaping identity and revealing God’s greater design. The author’s testimony emphasizes that even in seasons of brokenness and confusion, God uses those very strands to create a narrative of redemption, strength, and healing.

At its core, the book is about finding meaning and beauty in the mess of human experience, and courage in unveiling one’s scars with transparency. It invites readers to view their own journeys as interconnected designs, stitched by choices, emotions, and divine intervention. By sharing her story of endurance, faith, and ultimate healing, the author offers encouragement for others to trust the process of God’s weaving—believing that every life, no matter how frayed or tangled, can be transformed into a masterpiece of love and hope.

“The stories I heard growing up were told to me constantly by my mother, and they continue to burn within me.”

I was born to parents who lived in a pleasant, middle-class neighborhood. We were a family of five, with me being the youngest of three children. My parents married after the war. They had met at a bar while Dad was still serving in the Navy, awaiting his discharge. That night, they danced and drank the night away. Mom’s girlfriend had come along but took the bus home afterward, while Mom and Dad shared a taxi ride back to her place.

When they arrived, he turned to her and said, “I’d like to see you again. I’ll pick you up tomorrow night at six o’clock.” She agreed. Excited and a little nervous, she told her mother that she had met a sailor, and he was taking her out the next evening. Mom was worried he might not show up, but her mother reassured her, “He’ll come.” And he did—right on the dot…
